Mass shootings hit too close to home

The US has been left reeling after two mass shootings occurred within 24 hours of each other this month.

At least 22 people were killed and more than 24 were injured in a mass shooting in El Paso, Texas on August 3rd.

Patrick Crusius, the 21-year-old white supremacist who carried out the shooting, wanted to stop a "Hispanic invasion of Texas," according to a political document police believe he wrote.

He has since been charged with capital murder an it’s reported that he will also face hate crime charges.

Just hours later, another mass shooting took place in Dayton’s Oregon District. Nine people died and at least 27 were left wounded.

The shooter was killed by police within 30 seconds of opening fire, authorities said.

After police assessed the shooters home, they reported that findings suggest there was no racial or political motive. He was just "interested in killing."

And as the latter killing happened just miles from our Cincinnati office, it’s a terrifying realization that these shootings are happening too close to home.

In fact, according to the not-for-profit Gun Violence Archive, there have been 255 mass shootings in 2019 so far.

These shocking statistics highlight the critical need to have protective measures in place should the unthinkable happen.

This is why we’ve created military grade Bleed Control Kits, which essentially give civilians the opportunity to save lives.

In a time where terrorist attacks and active shooter events can happen anywhere at any time, it’s never been more important to educate and empower the public.

Allowing access to bleed control kits will not only make the general public feel safer, but help minimize the effects of tragic accidents and horrifying events.

Our bespoke kits contain items such as a tourniquet, compression bandage, medical gloves and an instruction card.

All products were engineered for military, but are now available to be used in public spaces. The kits are easily wall mountable and can be installed in locations such as schools, arenas, malls and transport hubs.

They act as a disposable litter, an easy way to retrieve vital equipment that will help control a wound before the emergency services arrive.
